1. Oymyakon: This is the most extreme climate one could ever imagine. With a permanently frozen ground, Oymyakon is the coldest place with human habitat. In the year 1924, Russian scientist Sergey Obrychev registered the lowest temperature −71.2 °C (−96.2 °F) recorded at Oymyakon’s weather station. Since then, it has become the lowest recorded temperature for any permanently inhabited location on Earth.


2. Yakutsk: This Russian city has an average winter temperature of −34 °C. The lowest temperature ever recorded in this city was −64.4 °C and is the coldest city in the world.


3. Rogers Pass Montana: This place located in US recorded a lowest -70 degrees Fahrenheit which is -57 degrees Celsius. The Great Bear are protected here.


4. Verkhoyansk: This town in Russia is known for its extreme climate. It is also one among the other towns considered as the northern Pole of Cold. The lowest temperature recorded in this town is −69.8 degrees Celsius.  The population of this town is somewhere around 1, 311.


5. Prospect Creek: This small settlement in Alaska has long winters.  Due to the extreme weather conditions, the population of this town has also gone down drastically. The record low temperature of -62 degrees Celsius was reported.
