'Bombay Velvet' which released on Friday proved to be disastrous at the box office. According to reports, Anurag Kashyap's directorial movie minted Rs 5.20 crore on Friday, Rs 5.20 crore on Saturday. Over the weekend, the film managed to gross a business of  just Rs 16 crore.

'Bombay Velvet' failed to garner rave reviews from its critics which further led to the decline of movie's box office earnings. Meanwhile, for filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, the movie might be one of his biggest openers but for Ranbir it is surely a big jolt as his last flop film 'Besharam' also raked in Rs 21 crore on day one of its release.

Anurag Kashyap's 'Bombay Velvet' transports you to the city in 50's and 60's. A sepia toned, nostalgic world, where gullible men entertained themselves around a boxing ring and vulnerable women were still struggling to find their place under the sun.

In the film, Ranbir is playing the role of an angry, young lover Johnny Balraj and Anushka playing the role of the singer Rosie Noronha. It also stars Karan Johar as the villain.
