Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to micro-blogging site Twitter to share the news. “#Roy Fri – 10.40 cr. India biz,” he wrote.

Although the film was not received well by the critics, the audience seems to like the sizzling on screen chemistry of Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez.

Arjun Rampal also took to Twitter to thanks his fans. "Thank you Roy is the biggest opener of 2015. Super happy.#rocknroy,” he tweeted.

With minting Rs 10.40 crore on the opening day, 'Roy' has become the biggest opener of the year 2015 so far, leaving behind Akshay Kumar starrer 'Baby' which raked in Rs 9.3 crore on the day one.

The film has done well in circuits like Delhi and Uttar Pradesh where it has minted nearly Rs 2 crore. 'Roy' collected Rs 1 crore nett in East Punjab, while it raked in Rs 3 crore nett in Mumbai.

The magic of  Jacqueline's 'chittiyaan kalaiyaan' has gone well with the audience, but the Cricket World Cup commencing on Saturday may affect the box office collection of 'Roy'.

The other film released this Friday was, MSG: The Messanger. Its box office collection is not out yet, but the film is expected to do well in North India due to huge fan following of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
