When asked about the reason, the hotel management came with the most bizarre explanation that her driver Manish is not ‘properly dressed’.
Dilshan Hemnani called the act as racist, for not letting her driver in for dinner on Friday. She wrote a post in Facebook explaining her terrible experience in Mocambo restaurant, the post later went viral with over 10,000 reactions, 16,000 shares, and over 3,000 comments.

"Boycott Mocambo," wrote Siddharth Rodrigues, Sandipan Banerjee, Pinaki Banerjee, Ritika Gadodia, Shweta Agarwal and hundreds of others.
Food blogger Poorna Banerjee said, "I have seen really badly dressed, dirtily dressed people walk into Mocambo. So that's no excuse. This is just terrible bias. Doubly shameful because we are in Kolkata, a liberal city with a soul."

Manish, who had been driving her around for a week, and she were waiting in queue for a table at Mocambo, but those who came after them were let in first. When asked why, first there were excuses and then the shockers, she wrote.

"Madam, he is not properly dressed," a Mocambo staff allegedly told Hemnani. Some argument over dress codes later, another allegedly said, "He is drunk".

Isn't it ironical that here in India, our clothes replicate the standard of our living. Does it really matter, what sort of attire you are wearing to get an entry into a restaurant? If the abnormal logic of Mocambo management had to be believed then a daily wager can only dream of having food in such lavish restaurants, irrespective of the money he carries in his pocket.

Shorts, slippers, headphone plugged into ears and a cap make you cool and elegant but a driver or a housekeeper decently dressed makes you object of disgust. What a SHAME…
