Muzaffarpur: The families which have been recently recognized in the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category under the Muzaffarpur Municipal Corporation area have not been provided with ration cards and other services even five months after the issuance of order by the municipal corporation department.

Miffed over the administration’s inaction, a large number of BPL families along with the ward councilors staged protests. Thereafter the protestors were ensured of speedy action in the matter. But no step has been taken by the authorities even after passage of a month.

Reacting on the matter Deputy Mayor Md. Nisaruddin said, “If the administration does not take any immediate steps in providing ration cards to the people and we will again come out on the streets to protest.”

Whereas LJP’s District President Shariful Ansari said, “The government is intentionally not distributing the cards to the people. If they do not do so in a week’s time, we may carry out a massive protest”.
