Mumbai: A brass statue of late Bollywood legend Dev Anand was unveiled by his co-star actress Waheeda Rahman on his first death anniversary on Tuesday at the 'Walk of the Stars' in suburban Bandra.

Speaking on the occasion, Nikhil Gandhi, Business Head of UTV Stars who initiated the idea of 'Walk of the Stars' project early this year said, "It is a way of honouring the invaluable contribution of the biggest superstars of Indian cinema. Dev Saab is one such pillar of Hindi cinema." "With the launch of his statue at Walk of the Stars, we hope to keep Dev Saab, his wonderful movies and his immense contribution to Bollywood evergreen for all his fans and many more generations to come," he added.

Waheeda Rehman said, "I made my acting debut with Dev Saab and then went on to do six more films with him. He was extremely passionate about his work and we shared a wonderful working relationship. While he will always be remembered for his wonderful movies, a tribute such as this will immortalise Dev Saab forever."

Commenting on the tribute to his father, Suneil Anand said, "My father has to his name a wonderful line up of movies and has contributed immensely to Indian and World Cinema. He continues to be a source of inspiration to millions of youth the world over".

TV Stars's 'Walk of the Stars' is a premium property that features handprints of some of the Bollywood stars embossed on brass plates on tiles along the path and also has statues of Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor installed on a bench. Dev Anand's statue was installed alongside that of the Kapoors.
