New Delhi: Brides and grooms can now choose the gifts they want from their friends and relatives with the launch of a new wedding registry service here, which is already popular in the West.
As part of the service, soon-to-be-married couples can register themselves and pick the list of presents they want for their wedding. Subsequently the list is made available to the guests who then choose which item they want to gift.
It's quite the norm in weddings in the West with celebs like Kim Kardashian and Christina Hendricks' bridal registry lists running into thousands of dollars.
The service, which enables would-be couples to register online and create their wishlist, was launched as part of the Wedding Atelier exposition held by DLF Emporio here.
"Earlier it was the family and the relatives who used to make decisions about the wedding, but these days brides themselves decide everything, right from the trousseau to the arrangements. This first-of-its-kind bridal registry service will enable them to choose gifts which will be useful," said Dinaz Madhukar, Vice President, DLF Emporio.
The service is not restricted to weddings only and people can register for other occasions as well. The exposition, which kickstarted on Friday, is a three-day extravaganza designed as a one-stop shop for all wedding-related needs, including wedding planning, floral designing, bridal make up expert, wedding cakes, photography and live entertainment.
"We wanted to fill up whatever's missing in terms wedding planning and create an one-stop shop for all things which go into designing a luxurious ceremony. The Wedding Atelier will be an annual event," said Dinaz.
