Mumbai: The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) benchmark Sensex picked up by over 152 points in opening trade on Friday on emergence of buying by funds as well as retail investors at attractive lower levels.

The 30-share barometer, which suddenly lost nearly 1,392 points in the previous nine sessions, recovered by 152.15 points, or 0.84 percent, to 18,362.73 in the first five minutes of trading.

The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty also moved up by 47.65 points, or 0.87 percent, to 5,507.50.

Brokers said the emergence of buying by funds and investors at attractive lower levels mainly influenced the trading sentiment.
