Mumbai: Leading stock exchange BSE on Tuesday said it has decided to hike the power charges levied on its member brokers and other tenants using its premises to bring them at par with the electricity tariff charged to the bourse.

In a circular issued to its members, tenants and lessees at its P J Towers and Rotunda Building in Mumbai, the BSE said that the BEST Undertaking has increased the electricity tariff with effect from June 1, 2012.

BEST Undertaking (Bombay Electric Supply & Transport Undertaking) is the organisation providing electricity and public road bus services in the city.

"While BSE has been paying electricity charges at an average rate of Rs 11.50 per unit to BEST Undertaking with effect from June 1, 2012, recovery from members/tenants/lessees continued at the rate of Rs 9 per unit," the exchange said.

Accordingly, the BSE said, it has decided to recover electricity charges for office lighting, as part of which exercise the recovery of electricity charges at Rs 11.50 per unit would be done with effect from June 1, 2012.

Also, the fuel adjustment cost charges will be charged at actual as and when BEST Undertaking levy the charges to BSE.

Besides, the BSE has also revised the minimum electricity charges from Rs 405 per month to Rs 520 per month with effect from June 1, 2012, the exchange said.
