Ferozepur(Punjab): The Border Security Force personnel of 143 battalion on Friday seized eight kilograms of heroin worth Rs.40 crore near BOP Basti Ram Lal area of Ferozepur Sector , BSF, acting DIG Madan informed media here.

Acting on a tip-off, BSF troops carried out a search operation and recovered eight Kg heroin wrapped tightly in red and yellow tapes concealed in a bulrush on the bank of river Satluj.

“Kudos goes to alertness of the BSF for the seizure of narcotics. Smugglers will face huge loss due to these recoveries,” Aditya Mishra, IG, BSF said.

This is the second time within a week when BSF has recovered such a huge amount of narcotics on the border area near Ferozepur.

Earlier on Sunday, BSF caught three Indian smugglers and recovered five kg heroin from their possession.

The frequent seizures signal that smugglers are active along India-Pakistan border in Punjab.
