Srinagar: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) employee was arrested on Thursday in north Kashmir’s Sopore on charges for providing SIM cards on fake names to the militants.

According to sources, he was in regular touch with militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen. Arrested BSNL employee Sajad Ahmad Dar is resident of Sangrampora, Sopore.

Sajad, posted as IT expert with BSNL Sopore was charged for providing 10 Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) and one Wireless in Local Loop (WILL) connection to militants of Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit.

All SIMs and WILL connection provided have been registered on fake names and addresses, and this was done with connivance of some other staffs.

Police have also formed a special team to arrest remaining staffs involved in the incident.

A case FIR No 311/2011 under section 420, 467/RPC and 10 CLA has been registered in police station Sopore and investigation into the matter has been started.
