However, free incoming calls will be offered for one year. The announcement comes ahead of full mobile number portability (MNP), which will be effective July this year. BSNL has a mobile subscriber base of 7.72 crore at the end of March.

The customers will now not have to pay to use mobile services while travelling outside the circle to which their connection belongs. Apart from this, BSNL shall also be setting up 5,000 base transceiver station (BTS) towers across the country to provide better services to its customers.

According to reports, 1,250 of the BTS towers will be erected in Bihar to improve that state's connectivity.
