New Delhi: Pressing the Central government to amend the new list of BPL families sent by the Uttar Pradesh government, the Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) under the leadership of Satish Chandra Mishra on Tuesday created uproar in Rajya Sabha forcing for its brief adjournment.

Mishra during the Question Hour targeted Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh who was replying to a question relating to identification of families for facilitation of programmes on rural development.

Ramesh said the present BPL list is based on 2002 census and the ongoing socio-economic caste census will cover different aspects including BPL beneficiaries. To which, Mishra replied that after 2002, there have been many changes in the list of BPL families and the Uttar Pradesh government has sent a revised list.

Earlier, replying to a question, Ramesh admitted there were errors in the BPL list. He said several non-BPL families have been included in the list as beneficiaries while several BPL families have been left out.
