Lucknow: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) seems to be all set to play its old formula of forming separate district in order to boost its vote bank in the upcoming Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh.

UP Chief Minister Mayawati is likely to announce Hapur as the 73rd district of UP on the occasion of ‘Kanshi Ram Nirvan Day’ on October 9. Although, the top administrative officials are escaping from making any official statement in this regard, administrative efforts are in full swing to make Hapur a separate district.
Facing consistent demand from the locals, the BSP has taken a decision to this effect. Notably, Ghaziabad including Hapur was bifurcated from Meerut in 1976 leaving many people of Garhmukteshwar tehsil and others in the lurch.

According to sources, the separate Hapur district may comprise Hapur tehsil, Garhmukteshwar tehsil, newly proposed tehsil Dhaulana and some areas of Syana tehsil.
