Lucknow: The all-round attack from the opposition, the questionable loyalty of some people in the organization and the feedback and the rebellion after announcement of party candidates for Assembly elections has forced the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) to change its election strategy.

The political bigheads will now be relieved from their ministerial post and will be lending their backup to the candidates sweating hard in the election campaign. In order to achieve double benefits from the heavyweights, some of the ministers could also be asked to field their family members in their constituency and themselves contest election from another constituency.

This change in strategy has been an aftermath of the unsatisfactory feedback provided by the party camps and brotherhood committees about the conduct of the announced candidates. As a stitch in time effort, the party has changed its candidates in about two dozen constituencies.

While 10 candidates were replaced in the eastern zone, at least a dozen candidates were replaced in Lucknow zone including former Minister Anant Kumar Mishra and Minister Subhash Pandey in Purvanchal. According to the sources, the trend would continue and even in the party fortress Allahabad, several candidates can be changed.

The party is in need of an efficient team which can not only contribute in the brotherhood committees but can also add zeal to the election campaign. It must also be capable of resolving regional differences among the candidates without the interference of the party supremo.

To achieve the above goal, the party has decided to pull back some of its ministers and handling them the responsibility of different regions. Initiating the process, senior BSP leader and Rural Development Minister Daddu Prasad has been made in-charge of Uttarakhand.

While Nasimudeen Siddiqui is working as the second liner in the state, Anant Kumar Mishra has been given the responsibility of attracting Brahmins to the party in seats considered safe like Kanpur, Agra and Aligarh.

Minister for Culture, Subhash Pandey will also be fighting the Lok Sabha elections.

Party sources have said that the family members will be given ticket in case of removing the BSP ministers as speculations are ripe that wives of two ministers have already been introduced in their place, though no official confirmation has been made by the party.
