New Delhi: Growing incidences of rape in the country virtually makes it mandatory for women to carry along some stuff which could help them when a problem strikes. Shahid Anwar, a youngster from Champaran in Bihar, has come up with an innovative wristband, which will not only inform the nearest police in the time of need but will also help in tracking the location of the person in distress.

Shahid is currently pursuing B. Tech course at Indraprastha University in the national capital.

The device, which has been developed to ensure safety of women, has a button which sends signals to the police stations when it is pressed. Shahid’s innovative ‘safety wristband gadget’ was greatly admired at IIT Delhi.

Idea came after December 16 gang-rape incident

Speaking about his innovative idea, Shahid said that after December 16 gangrape in Delhi; he decided to make a device which could help women to protect themselves from assault.

Women can easily wear it on their wrists

Nearest police station can be alerted when its button is pressed for 2-3 seconds

Vibration in wristband indicates that message is delivered

Police can locate the person in distress through unique ID inserted in the wristband
