The ambitious campaign was flagged by the Prime Minister on 2nd October, 2014 which marks the 145th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Through the campaign, Modi aims to realise the dreams of the father of the nation.  

The Prime Minister hopes to achieve the target of 'Swachh Bharat' in the next five years which will mark the 150th birth anniversary of the father of the nation.

In a bid to modernize the sanitation of the country within five years, Narendra Modi, along with several Union Ministers and Bollywood celebrities, launched the mission in New Delhi on Thursday.

A Buddhist monk, Ajay said that Modi's campaign will be taken forward by all the monasteries across Bihar. The ministers and government officials across India wielded broom and swept streets and offices as part of ambitious project.
