Noida: An ill-fated bus carrying Indian Tibet Border Police (ITBP) personnel turned turtle while negotiating a deep pothole, leaving 27 jawan injured here on Sunday. The injured jawans were rushed to a private hospital.

The bus picked ITBP personnel, who were to be deployed at Rashtrapati Bhawan, from Lakhnawali camp, Greater Noida. On way to Rashtrapati Bhawan, the bus met with an accident near Mahamaya flyover as the driver veered to avoid a water pool on the road.

On receiving the news of incident, the police reached the spot and the bus was taken into custody. The injured were admitted to Kailash Hospital where condition of six police personnel was stated to be critical. The ITBP officers also reached the hospital to inquire the well-being of the injured jawans.

Vijay Kumar, ITBP Inspector, said, “The tyres of the bus were poor and the bus was almost defunct, which was pressed into service when one bus meant to carry them to Rashtrapati Bhawan broke down. The poor condition of the bus coupled with inclement weather led to the causality.
