New Delhi: The business deals of Anand Kumar, younger brother of former UP Chief Minister Mayawati, are under scanner for questionable financial transactions.

According to reports, Anand Kumar’s companies made cash transactions of nearly Rs 760 crores during the third tenure of Mayawati as Chief Minister (2007-2012).

His companies made these transactions with real estate giants Jaypee, Unitech, DLF and several others. However, the DLF termed these business transactions as normal but the question arises that by which means he raised the huge funds?

According to the documents submitted with the Registrar of Companies, out of seven firms owned by Anand Kumar, six were set up only after Mayawati came to power in 2007.

It is being alleged that Anand Kumar exercised political influence of Mayawati in establishing these companies. The reports also suggest that the firms earned revenue in a variety of ways such as by issuing shares on huge premium, seizing advance payment made by third parties to the companies and selling of undisclosed investments.
However, tax was paid on some of these transactions. Anand Kumar has not given any clarification regarding other transactions.

Anand Kumar’s oldest company Hotel Library Club, set up in 1987, procured whooping Rs 346 crore during the last five years. It is not clear that what kind of investment it was and to whom it was sold.

It is to be noted that Anand Kumar was a clerk with Noida Authority but soon after Mayawati came to power, he made money overnight.
