Kolkata: Hearing the Tata Motors' petition challenging the Singur Land Rehabilitation and Development Act, 2011, Calcutta High Court on Thursday directed the West Bengal Government to file an affidavit by July 8 in this connection.

Justice Saumitra Pal, while hearing the case also directed Tata Motors to file a reply affidavit in the High Court by July 12. The next hearing on the case is scheduled for July 14. 

Earlier on Wednesday, Supreme Court had given directions to the West Bengal Government to stay the return of Singur land to the farmers until the Tata Motors' petition is settled by the Calcutta High Court.

The Apex Court has asked the Calcutta High Court to solve the case within a month.
