Kolkata: Campaigning for the third phase of assembly election in West Bengal came to an end at 5pm on Monday. Candidates of a number of political parties are contesting for 75 Assembly seats in the third phase which is to take place on Wednesday.

Braving hot and humid conditions, candidates toiled hard on the last day of the campaigning.

94 candidates are vying with one-another for 11 assembly seats of Kolkata. Whereas 192 candidates are in race for 33 seats of North 24 Parganas. Another 194 candidates will be contesting for 31 Assembly segments of South 24 Parganas. 

The preparations for the polling  have been completed in all the three districts and deployment of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has also started.

Election officials have been deployed at 12769 polling booths for the elections in these three districts.They will be supervising the activities of political parties and candidates during the entire process. The number of voters for these districts is 1, 44, 19,669 which comprises 76, 30,156 male and 67, 89,513 female voters.

A strong team of 500 companies of CRPF has been deployed in the three districts. A special vigil is also being maintained in the sensitive polling booths of North and South 24 Parganas, which have witnessed voilence in the past.
