New Delhi: Jaded with fining around 44,345 vehicles in less than a month for violating norms, the Delhi police urged Transport Department to cancel the registration of such vehicles.

In the wake of Vasant Vihar gang rape case, the Delhi traffic police in its daily operations had been fining significant number of vehicles which hit the roads without permit.

Therefore, the traffic police asked Transport Department to cancel the registration of such vehicles. A formal letter is also being written in this regard to the Transport Commissioner Rajendra Kumar. According to which, mere fining of such vehicles will not serve the purpose and some stricter action must be taken against the vehicle owners.

In a meeting attended by Judges of High court and Transport Department officials, Joint commissioner (traffic) Satyendra Garg said he requested to cancel the registration of vehicles which caught running without the permit.

The bus, which was used in Delhi gang rape case, was also plying on the roads without permit. Post incident, Delhi police launched a massive campaign to tighten screws against such illegal vehicles.
