King Digital Entertainment PLC, which also develops lesser-known games such as ‘Bubble Witch Saga’ and ‘Pet Rescue Saga’, did not disclose how many shares it expects to offer in the Initial Public Offering (IPO) or an estimated price range for the stock.

In the papers, which were filed on Tuesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the company said that it hopes to raise around USD 500 million in the offering.

It needs to be mentioned here that ‘Candy Crush’ was the most downloaded free application on iPhones and iPads in the year 2013, which surpassed Facebook, Google Maps and YouTube.

The game's success also helped the company to replace Zynga Inc - developer of ‘FarmVille’ and ‘Mafia Wars’ - as the numero uno producer of games which are played on Facebook.

The buzz in the market has already started drawing a comparison between King and Zynga.

A key fact, which needs to be taken into account, is that Zynga had dominated domain of online games once and in 2011. The company went public, mainly buoyed by the response it received from the popular ‘FarmVille’.
King Digital Entertainment PLC, which was founded in 2002 made its mind go public once ‘Candy Crush’ attained the peak of its popularity.

However, several analysts believe that any comparison between King and Zynga are unfair for both companies.
