New Delhi: There has been significant jump in the sales of cars and bikes this festive season across India. Car sales registered a growth of 23.09 percent in October 2012, whereas bike sales saw a growth of 6.71 percent.
According to a data released by Society of Indian Automobile manufacturers (SIAM), 1,72,459 units of cars sold in October 2012, whereas it was 1,40,105 in the same period last year.
In October 2012, total of 9,36,122 bikes were sold as compared to 8,77,270 bikes in October 2011. However in the last month, sale of two-wheelers increased by 12.26 percent to 12,44,716 in comparison to 11,44,716 in the same period last year.
The total sales of commercial vehicles have grown 7.59 percent to 66,722 in October 2012. It was 62,013 in October 2011.
However, the total number of vehicles sold in October 2012 has surged 14.81 percent to 16,53,703. It was at 14,40,409 in October 2011.
