Kanpur: A case has been lodged against a local Samajwadi Party youth leader and three others in connection with the murder of a coaching centre owner on November 9, police said on Sunday.

The FIR was registered on Saturday night based on the complaint of the deceased Mohammad Haroon's brother Irshad at Kakadev police station in Kanpur, they said.

Irshad, in his complaint, has alleged that the four conspired Haroon's murder and also accused them of threatening and extortion, police said.

The accused have been booked under Sections 302 (murder) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC. Meanwhile, SP city President Chandresh Singh said they did not have information if the accused SP leader was still involved with the party or not.
Mohammad Haroon, owner and director of a coaching institute here, was shot dead by three men wearing helmets outside the building of Krishnadham apartments in Kakadev area here on November 9.
