Chandigarh:  Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday deferred the hearing on a petition by its former judge Nirmal Yadav challenging grant of sanction for her prosecution in the cash-at-judge's door case of 2008.

Justice Yadav was on August 27 granted bail by the Special CBI Court here in the case.

Justice Permod Kohli deferred the hearing after Yadav’s lawyer sought adjournment and fixed September 13 as the next date of hearing.

Challenging the grant of sanction against her, Yadav’s lawyers have questioned reopening of the case contending that it cannot be put on trial again after the CBI submitted the closure report in the case.

The court has already summoned all the details related to the case from the Ministry of Law and Justice.
