New Delhi: Patiala House court’s decision on Thursday came as a respite for the Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh in the cash-for-vote case. The court has dismissed a petition of Hashmat Ali, a key witness in the case, who had sought registration of a criminal case against Amar Singh and two others for their alleged involvement in Ali’s abduction in September 2008.

Rejecting the plea, Additional Session Judge Neena Krishna Bansal said that on the basis of the evidences no case stands against Singh.

Ali had filed the petition challenging the lower court’s December 12 order saying that the court had ignored the strong evidences presented by him in this case. He had accused Amar Singh and his two aides Tarun and Ramesh for conspiring his abduction to prevent his appearance before a Parliamentary Committee that time.
