New Delhi (JPN/ Bureau): The CBI approached the Supreme Court against clean chit given to leaders of BJP, Shiv Sena and RSS in connection with the demolition of controversial religious structure in Ayodhya.

The CBI challenged the High Court’s approval on the judgment of a special bench of Lucknow. The special bench of Lucknow gave order to close the case against the 21 BJP leaders including L K Adavani.

The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court rejected the review petition filed by the CBI on May 20 last year. Dainik Jagran published on December 6 that the CBI would file special petition in the Supreme Court against the 21 BJP leaders including Adavani who got the clean chit.

The high court declined to interfere the judgment given by the special judge of Lucknow on May 4, 2001.

The special judge rejected the allegation on L K Adavani, Uma Bharati, Murli Manohar Joshi, Vinay Katiyar, Bal Thackeray, Ashok Singhal among others. The HC said that the judgment of the special judge did not have any aberrations.
