New Delhi: Central Bureau of Investigation claimed on Friday claimed that it has cracked the multi-crore Uttar Pradesh National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam. According to the CBI sources, the roots of the scam are linked to the then Chief Minister and BSP supremo Mayawati who facilitated the appointment of 100 additional Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) despite knowing that such appointments were not required as each of the 72 districts in the state already had a CMO.

CBI sources said that the additional CMOs were the root through which the multi-crore NRHM scam took place. CBI further claimed that such appointments impossible without consent of BSP. It was further added that BSP ignored letters from union health secretary which was written in 2010 against bifurcation of health ministry by then BSP government in the state.

Now, the BSP leaders are under scanner of CBI in this case. CBI had filed another chargesheet against former family welfare minister Babu Singh Kushwaha and BSP MLA Ram Prasad Jaiswal on Thursday for their involvement in the scam.
