Jaipur: A special CBI court on Wednesday decided to hear the bail application of Swami Aseemanand, an accused in Ajmer Dargah blast, on May 6. Extending the time-limit from 90 days to 180 days, the court also granted more time to National Investigation Agency (NIA) to file chargesheet against Aseemanand and Bharat Bhai in the blast case.

Arguing that the statements of Aseemanand and Bharat Bhai were contradictory in nature, the NIA sought more time for filing the chargesheet.

The special CBI court also granted permission to the NIA to interrogate Aseemanand in jail here in the presence of his advocate regarding his alleged involvement in 2007 Mecca Masjid blast.

Aseemanand, during the last hearing on April 30, moved a petition seeking bail on technical grounds citing Section 167 (2) of CrPC which provides that a person cannot be kept in custody for more than 90 days during the investigation.
