New Delhi: Like opposition parties and non-governmental organizations, now the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has also raised the demand for its financial autonomy.

Last month, the CBI director Ranjit Sinha raised the issue of financial decision-making autonomy for the investigating agency. Sinha said that other agencies like CRPF, BSF and CISF Director already have the financial autonomy, then why CBI is being deprived for the same.

According to current rules, the CBI has to seek permission from the government to buy the smallest thing needed and it is upto the government that it permits to make the purchase or not.

Therefore, the CBI director continuously depends on the government to run the organization smoothly and obviously this affects CBI's autonomy somewhere.

Sinha said, the nation's largest investigation agency is required to meet the financial decision-making autonomy to work with full swing.
