Lucknow: The Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court on Wednesday granted two more months to the CBI for concluding investigation into the NRHM scam. The court’s order came after CBI’s application for a three months extension for the investigation into the scam.

Also, the CBI objected to the application filed by the petitioner demanding investigations from the time the NRHM fund was allotted. The court has given a week’s time to the CBI to file an application objecting the petition.

The order has been given by the Bench of Justices Pradip Kant and Rituraj Awasthi on the petition filed by advocates Akhilesh Kalra, Nadeem Murtaza and Gaurav Mehrotra on behalf of Sachidanand Gupta. It was demanded in the petition that the CBI instead of probing the NRHM scam from 2009 should investigate since the funds were allotted for the project.

CBI counsel Bireshwar Nath strongly opposed the application, saying that the petitioner could not instruct the CBI on how to investigate. Reacting to this the bench said, that the CBI should submit its objection in written the court.

Notably, on November15, 2011 the court had handed over the investigation orders regarding state NRHM and Lucknow NHRM to the CBI.
