Dehradun: Tightening the noose around Yoga guru Ramdev's close aide Balakrishna, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team on Sunday registered two cases against him for allegedly furnishing fake educational degree to secure an Indian passport.

The probe agency has framed Balakrishna under Section 420 (cheating/dishonesty), 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 467 (forgery of valuable security) 468 (forgery with intent of cheating) of Indian Penal Code and Section 12 of the Indian Passport Act.

After lodging the case, CBI is likely to arrest Balakrishna soon. After the police raid at Ramlila Maidan on June 4, several fingers were raised over the nationality of Balakrishna and the unlawful tactics adopted by him to get an Indian passport.

After Sampurna Nand Sanskrit University, Varanasi declared the documents of Balakrishna as forged, the CBI decided to file case against him. University Registrar Rajneesh Shukla had pointed out that Balakrishna’s degree does not match with the varsity records.

The issue of Balakrishna’s birth certificate mysteriously missing from the Haridwar Municipality office has already been reported.

CBI SP Neelab Kishore has said, “After verifying Balakrishna documents, a case has been lodged against him under the Section 420, 467, 468, 120-B of IPC and section 12 of Indian Passport Act.”
