New Delhi: In order to save senior officials of the Sports Ministry, the Delhi Government and the Finance Ministry, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is unable to tighten the noose around former Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi.

According to the CBI, Kalmadi did all the malpractices clandestinely in collusion with senior officials and the agency is finding it difficult to question them directly.

Referring to the difficulties being faced in investigation of  the CWG scam, a senior CBI official expressed that many innocent officials would also be arrested in order to penalise Kalmadi.

The CBI officials investigating the case said that although he approved all the expenses for contracts during the games, but before giving the final nod Kalmadi did not forget to get them approved by the senior officials at the secretariat-level in the Central and Delhi Government.

This move of the sacked chairman is now proving difficult for the officials as Kalmadi willingly delayed the sanctions and at the last moment these officials could not go into minute details.

The agency believes that these officials cannot be held responsible for aiding Kalmadi directly. It has also claimed that they would expose all the malpractices done by Kalmadi.

During its investigation, the CBI also revealed that it will get evidences related to bribe money being transferred to Kalmadi.
