Jaipur: Taking a dig at the Congress for slackness in the much talked-about Bhanwari Devi case, Leader of Opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly and former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje said that the bigwigs who are involved in the case are being shielded and only the pawns are being targeted. Raje had alleged that the Congress is using CBI as a tool for its political benefits in the Bhanwari Devi case.

"The Congress is using CBI to intimidate and harass people. There is no use of harassing small and the local BJP leaders. I fail to understand why the investigating agency is not interrogating the big Congress leaders whose names have appeared in some way or other in this case," Raje said. Why the CBI is focusing on the Marwar region and not putting Congress leaders under its net, she questioned.

A day after the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court denied him interim bail to attend the budget session of the state assembly, Luni MLA Malkhan Singh on Saturday moved a fresh application for the interim bail before the Jodhpur district judge. The district judge transferred the bail application to the SC/ST court, which will hear the plea on February 27, the day the assembly session begins in Jaipur.

It was reported that main accused Mahipal Maderna and Malkhan Singh have appealed for 60 days and 40 days respectively to attend the budget session of the assembly.
