Jaipur: As part of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the Tulsiram Prajapati alleged encounter case, the team on the completion of investigation here returned back on Saturday. The investigative agency, during its investigation process questioned jail authorities and Superintendent of Police in Jaipur.

At the Supreme Court’s order, the CBI had started its investigation into the Tulsi Prajapati alleged fake encounter case. Prajapati was the prime witness to the encounter of the dreaded criminal Sohrabuddin Sheikh and murder of the latter’;s wife Kausar Bi.

The team which was headed by CBI DSP LS Rao and sub-inspector Vishwas Kumar was spotted in Udaipur gathering information about Prajapati, who was also an accused in the Hamid Lala murder case, from the local police.

Trailing Tulsi’s past records, the CBI team questioned the jail authorities and sought information from them regarding Tulsi’s inmates inside the jail.

It is noteworthy to mention that after Prajapati’s mother, Narmada Bai, filed a petition, the Supreme Court on April 8 handed over the case to the CBI. In her petition she had alleged that it was a fake encounter case.

Moreover, the CBI has already filed cases against few police officials of Rajasthan and Gujarat for criminal conspiracy, murder and destruction of evidence in this case.

It was believed that in 2006 Tulsi Prajapati, who was accused in the murder case of a property dealer, was encountered while he was being taken from Udaipur jail to Ahmadabad.
