According to a CBSE circular, a total of 13,73,853 students are appearing for the class 10 board examination and 10,40,368 students are appearing for the class 12 board examination.

"There has been a hike of 3.37 percent in the number of students appearing in the class 10 board examination and in the class 12th board examination there has been a hike of 1.01 percent of students appearing for the examination," the circular said.

The Class X exam has begun from Monday with 10 vocational subjects.

The first major exam will be of Science on March 3rd, followed by Social Science Studies (SST) on March 10. Hindi paper will be held on March 12 while the mathematics test is scheduled to be held on March 16.

Various music examinations will be held on March 18 followed by English on March 19. The examinations will end on March 26 with subjects like Bodo, Kashmiri, Sindhi and Russian.

The Class XII exam has also commenced from Monday with English elective, elective-c and core. First exam in the commerce stream will be of Business Studies on March 4th while Science stream student will first appear for physics test on March 9th.

History exam is scheduled for March 10, followed by chemistry for March 12 and mathematics for March 18. The economics exam will be held on March 20 and accountancy on April 6. Last exam will be of Legal studies on April 17th.

The CBSE from February 2 is providing pre-examination psychological counseling to students and parents. These services are scheduled to continue till April 2.

To access the helpline, students can dial a a toll free number 1800-11-8004 from any part of the country. CBSE has also provided counselling for specially-abled children to address to their needs and anxiety.

The results of both the standards are expected in May.
