Aizawl (Agencies): Federation of Mizoram Government School Teachers (FMGST) on Friday slammed the government for engaging school teachers in the ongoing Census 2011 work to the loss of the interest of the students.

Many schools had to be closed down as a majority of teachers were engaged in the census operations and the students would suffer, said FMGST official in a statement.

“In a school having seven teachers, four were engaged in the census exercise,” the statement stated, adding that the government does not seem to have any respect for the Right to Education Act.

The FMGST also said that the government refused to give out honorarium to the teachers engaged in the census.
