Indore: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) caught Superintendent of Central Excise, RK Arya red handed on Tuesday while taking bribe of Rs 50,000 from manager of a company.

Acting on a complaint filed by Vikas Tiwari, manager of Victor Security and Detective Services, Arya harassed Vikas by levying a tax liability of Rs 40 lakhs on his firm. He demanded Rs 5 lakh to resolve the tax issue. The final deal came down to Rs 50,000.

Tiwari said, "Despite submitting the tax, Arya imposed a tax of Rs 4o lakhs on me. Therefore, I informed the CBI about it."

A 15-member CBI team from Bhopal reached the Excise office and arrested Arya.

The CBI sleuths laid their trap at the Excise office in CGO complex. At 6 in the evening, Vikas reached Excise office to deliver the amount demanded by Arya.

Arya was caught red handed when Tiwari was handing over the bribe money to him.
