Ranchi: The five-member Central team which visited Jharkhand to assess the Maoist menace in its report has said the state is in the grip of Naxalites who are dictating terms as far as development work in the state is concerned.

The team comprising former Union Home Secretary VK Duggal, former Maharashtra DGP D Shivnandan, former IB Chief PC Haldar, Uday Kumar Singh and Brajeshwar Singh took stock of the internal security of the state in a meeting with the top Jharkhand officials in the Hotel AT International here on Tuesday.

Duggal said, “The team not only visited Jharkhand but also other states. The team will submit report to the Central Government, following which concrete solution would be ascertained.”

Unless the government eliminates Naxals, no development work is possible in the state, the team report added. 

Jharkhand Chief Secretary SK Chaudhary, Home Secretary JB Tubid, Security Advisor to the Chief Minister, DN Gautam, IG SN Pradhan, RK Malik and KS Meena also attended the meeting.
