New Delhi: The Union Government on Thursday approved the conversion of 120 km stretch of Patna-Buxar national highway route into four lane road.

Minister of Road Transport and Highways CP Joshi informed the Rajya Sabha that the committee constituted by the Ministry had approved the Rs 1620 crore worth project on December 5, 2008.

He informed that the project was prepared again and forwarded to M/s Gammon Infrastructure Limited on November 2, 2011. For the project, the total construction period was mentioned as 20 years which included concession span of 30 months.

The main part of the project is aimed to be completed by 2014-2015.

During the Question hour of the Upper House, he said that many proposals on construction of bridges are also in the pipelines.
