New Delhi: In yet another move to benefit the downtrodden, the Central government has approved their inclusion in OBC list in 14 states. It would enable them for reservation in the central government services and educational institutions.
The list contains those in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.
However, the Cabinet did not approve including more than dozen castes of Vaishya community of Jharkhand that led to resentment among them. According to sources, they faield to get clearance because the National OBC Commission has recently given reference of their names for the inclusion in the list.
Long before the Cabinet approval, National Commission for Backward Classes had sent such proposal to the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment after approving it.

After getting cabinet 's approval, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment will notify the amendments in Central list to the state governments.
