New Delhi: The Union Human Resources Ministry and Bihar government are at loggers head over setting up a Central University at Motihari.

The University is presently being run in a rented building at the BIT Mesra campus in the state capital. The University management has been asked to vacate the building by September 30.

Sources in the HRD Ministry said the Bihar government is adamant to set the university at Motihari while the Ministry is of the view that purpose will not be served if the university is set up at Motihari as the visiting professors will refuse visit the place which is far away from Patna.

The HRD Ministry had decided to set up Central Universities in 15 states including Bihar in 2009.

It was decided that those states which have no campus for central university, can start teaching in the rented building. Following which, the centre had appointed Dr Janak Pandey as the vice chancellor of Motihari University.

Meanwhile, the state government has said it will cooperate with Centre if the university is set up in Motihari, where it has already acquired 500 acres of land.
