New Delhi: The Centre and Bihar government are at loggerhead over Aligarh Muslim University’s Kishanganj campus. Rail Roko Andolan at Kishanganj led by local MP Maulana Asrarul Haque and students’ protest outside Bihar House in Delhi have added fuel to the fire.

Bihar Human Resource Minister PK Shahi said the VC has misled the Bihar government by not telling that the President cum Visitor has not given the clearance for opening the centre in Bihar.

He also sought CBI probe into the matter of misleading the Bihar government. State government has already acquired land for theproposed university.

It is worth mentioning that the AMU expressed concern over land being provided in Kishanganj as it is in three parts while they want single plot.

But the government is refusing to acquire that land stating that the major pieces of the concerned land is in fact belongs to Bhoodan Yagya movement of late Binoba Bhave.

Meanwhile, the Centre and state government are yet to decide whether the Central University should be set up at Motihari or Patna.
State government wants the varsity to be set up at Motihari while Centre is in favour of Patna citing airport connectivity.

Similar is the story of the Nalanda International University where work has been affected due to sudden resignation of former President APJ Abdul Kalam from the post of varsity Visitor.
