New Delhi: Challenging the order of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, which had quashed the 4.5 percent reservation for minorities within the 27 the per cent quota of the OBC, the Center on Saturday has filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court.

Recently on May 28, a division bench comprising Justices Madan B Lokur and Sanjay Kumar of the AP High Court, had set aside the Office Memorandum (OM) issued by the Centre in December last year to provide sub-quota to minorities in central educational institutions and jobs.

The order had triggered a lot of apprehensions in the Muslims community about the status of the 4 percent reservation extended to it by the state government

The Center, in its SLP, has sought to set aside the AP HC order.
