New Delhi: Taking concrete steps to build Industrial infrastructure under New Manufacturing Policy (NMP), the Centre has asked the state governments to give special attention to the plan.

Writing a letter, the Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, PK Chaudhary, has asked the Chief Secretaries of seven states to make land available for developing industrial units under the new policy.

As mentioned in the letter, those states having massive stretch of government land along with sick industrial units can bring them under National Industrial and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ).

NIMZD includes townships with modern industrial infrastructure along with special units to operate its functioning. The Secretary has cleared that on the basis of basic infrastructure and operation the land area under NIMZ would be different from the Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

It needs to be mentioned that NMP was approved by the Union Cabinet on October 25 which has opened doors for the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor along with the development of seven industrial cities. These cities will be referred as NIMZ.
