New Delhi: If everything goes as per the Centre’s plan, Delhi and Jaipur would soon be connected with a new expressway. The Union government has also mooted the proposal to the Delhi government to construct residential colonies and commercial centers on both sides of the expressway.

The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, CP Joshi, through a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has expressed the willingness of the Central government about the proposal.

In the letter, he said the expressway would be constructed under the private public partnership basis and residential colonies along with commercial centers would also be developed on both the sides of the expressway.

He has asked the Delhi government to provide details on availability of the land, acquisition of the land in this regard. The Union Minister has also mentioned that a meeting has been called in this regard on November 11, therefore has asked the Delhi government to should send its representatives to participate in the meeting.

According to sources in the Delhi government, there is insufficient land in the capital for the aforesaid purpose, but to pursue the ambitious project, the government has to make necessary arrangements.

Sources said the project is still in a nascent phase, therefore, it would be difficult to ascertain as to what will be the location and from where the project would start?

It may be noted here that it takes 5 to 6 hours to reach Jaipur which is 261 km away from the national capital.
