New Delhi: Demanding release of death sentence awardee-prisoner Sarabjit Singh who has been in the Pakistan jail since many years, his relatives sat on 11-day protest at Jantar-Mantar from Friday.

Extending support to Singh’s family, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) supremo Ram Vilas Paswan said that the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister must pressurize the Pakistan government for his release.

“Concrete steps should be taken by both the governments in connection with the release of Indian and Pakistani prisoners who have been serving the jail period since a long time,” Paswan said.

“This will lead to further improving the relation between the countries,” he added.

Demanding support from anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare and his team, Singh’s sister Dalveer Kaur said “My family has been fighting for release of my brother since a long time. But nothing happened. We are looking forward for the support of Team Anna.”

The protest also grabbed support of singer Shamsher Mehndi and Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Prakash Javedkar.
