Haridwar: Pledging to save river Ganga, Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti on Sunday said that Centre must take steps to protect the river.

The firebrand leader took a dip in the river at Har-Ki-Pauri and said, “I will sacrifice everything to save the river. “

She said, “It is everyone's duty to make sincere efforts for its protection.” Bharti has been fasting here since May 10.

Earlier the leader reached the banks of river Ganga on Friday along with female supporters and reiterated her promise to protect the river.  In the Ganga House Office the leader paid her obeisance and requested support from President of Ganga Sabha, Ashok Tripathi and general secretary  Virendra Shrikunj.
