In a statement here, the Chief Minister said the Narendra Modi led NDA government has been serving all along the interests of industry bigwigs and corporate houses. Gogoi added that he had predicted during the last Lok Sabha campaign that big corporates would run the government if PM Modi came to power. Stating that his prediction turned out to be true, Gogoi stated, "It is a kind of corporate rule from back door."

"The Central government frames and formulates its policies to cater to the needs of the big industrial houses, rather than the poor people of the country," he added.

Asserting that the Central government wanted to amend the Land Acquisition Bill at the behest of the corporates, the Chief Minister said, "This is a pro-corporate government. Such type of dispensation is a threat to democracy."
